What I brought home today
Today in Santa Barbara we had an orchid fair which resulted in me getting 5 more orchids. later, as if 5 orchids wasn't enough, I went to OSH to get a chain so I could hang one of my new orchids lower and I got another orchid! I just couldn't pass up the little guy, it was screaming my name.
Here is the list of today's finds:
Acropera galeata
Tolumnia Genting Volcano
Paph. malipoense
Paph. pinnochio
Paph. Double Trix 'Lovely Moment' x Bella Lucia 'Komechi-D'
and from OSH
Paph. Moquettianum 'September' x Virtuous 'Snow"
Can someone please tell me how to stop buying orchids, I can't seem to stop myself!
Kristen

Nice plants.
BTW Paph Pinocchio is a hybrid between Paph primulinum and Paph glaucophyllum.
To stop buying orchids try:
1. Buying all the ones you want till there are very few you actually want. And you keep them alive.
2. You own so many that you can no longer adequately handle them all even with efficient methods of culture.
3. Give up the hobby.
4. Everything dies on you and you quit.
I personally like the first solution. Although, the second one sorta ties in to the first one...

Nice haul!!!! How's the Fair? I thought of driving there today from Long Beach but could not find somebody to ride with me and I did not want to drive 2 hrs. alone. Hopefully I can make it there on Sunday, maybe they will have everything on sale.

I used to drive up there alone. That was fun after the first few times. But after a while, it wasn't as fun anymore. It was all about me, and in the back of my head I was always thinking, "Man, I invited my friends and all they said to me was, 'Hell no!'". It also kinda sucked to bring friends who didn't care about orchids like I did and whined about how long I was taking when I was perusing the orchid vendors after looking at the orchid displays in the Huntington Library show here in Pasadena.
From the perspective of someone who has always lived in the Los Angeles County area, I loved the idea of going up there in a road trip type situation with good friends. sorta like in the movie "Sideways". Except with more people and without the wine tasting and it'd be about orchids.
