No it isn't necessary to put cinnamon when you cut each individual dead flower from the plant. If you wait long enough they just fall off.

When the spike starts to turn brown, snip it as close to the foliage as possible. I've never put cinamon on a spike I removed.

Well that's 2 to 1 (over the naked spike)

Actually my orchids have been doing well.

They've got roots coming out the jing yang, but I'm waiting for spikes. Except for the Dend' that is still in flower.
