Question Bromeliad has a weird growth on a leaf?

I thought this little speck was dust!
It looks like a mini leaf. That's my finger behind it.

Any ideas?

And this pic looks like the start of a pup.

The white thing looks like stick stem of orchid pollinia! Do you grow cataseinae? Perhaps it shot out of a flower?

Really does look like something that has rooted to your phal, is that at the base of the same plant?

No, at the base, I think there's a new pup starting.
I need an electron microscope!

But the curious white thing is way up on a larger leaf.

I only have one flowering Phal and don't think this one produces a stem of orchid pollinia!

I just took some pillinia out of a phal I have blooming. Thats definitly what that white thing is. Its missing the two round pollen balls

Couldnt download my photo but here is an illustration that shows the pollinia.

Wikipedia: Most orchids have waxy pollinia. These are connected to one or two elongate stipes,[clarification needed][3] which in turn are attached to a sticky viscidium, a disc-shaped structure that sticks to a visiting insect.[2]

Looks like they gone from my phal.
Awesome! Thank you, that's really fascinating.
