Possible Vanda Keikis?
Default Possible Vanda Keikis?

Hello all-

About a year ago I posted pictures of several Vandas I found suffering in a big box store, you gave me some great advice to get them back to health. All are doing well and this one is doing well, but in my opinion is the worst of the bunch. I should probably clean up the non-viable roots but it has lots of healthy roots and new growth on top looks good. Recently I noticed little leaves popping out at the bottom of the plant where the roots come from, are these keikis?

Thanks for your help-
Allison

Yes, and not necessarily because it's unhappy. It looks great. What is that huge bulb growing? Could it be a flower? I think the plant looks fantastic

So glad that you think it looks happy!! I had one Vanda produce a flower spike so far and it looked like a little fist punching its way out of the plant. This one, I am not sure about. These Vandas seem to grow roots from all sorts of places. Here is a close up view Vanda W Possible Keikis by dufchick | Photobucket

Yah, Vandas aren't what you'd call a traditionally pretty plant, LOL. Roots everywhere! But, their flowers are amazing and usually smell beautiful. The keikis will actually help it look fuller, less like a stalk IMO and if she gets enough light, I'm sure she'll produce flowers for you
