Default Cattleya warscewiczii

Does anyone have any tips for growing these indoors? My orchid room is the south east corner of my home with 2 large south facing windows & 4 east facing windows. I have a variety of Cattleya hybrids, 2 Dendrobiums and some Phals now. Im picking up an established seedling with 5 PB's. I was wondering if theres anything I should or shouldnt do with Cattleya warscewiczii ?

Read the article by AA Chadwick - notable King of Cattleyas- at Cattleya warscewiczii | Chadwick and Son Orchids . Follow the recommendations only if your plant is large enough to flower. Give it the recommended rest but not as long nor as harsh if the plant is on the small side and not going to flower anyway. Otherwise, as bright light as you can give, water and fertilizer until December. Then rest.

Allowing it to make another growth after flowering should be avoided although I have found a really strong-growing plant may not always cooperate with you on this. — A.A. Chadwick.

If the plant wanted to make a new growth after flowering, how would you stop it?

I have a couple of C. warscewiczii growing in semi hydro. They have been making great new growths and don't seem to rest - but they are not flowering size....bright light for sure. Mine are also under florescents, so I don't expect flowering for some time.

exasperatus....your plant looks great! I have been to the Meyers site many times and wish it was easier to get plants to Canada from them.

I have had this plant for about 10 years, and it has stubbornly refused to flower. I fell like Seymour Krelbourne - I've anally followed Chadwick cultural info, plus any other I can find. Everything from desert to mud. I live in the deep south, so have been able to roast it in the sun 24/7...
Last year, I divided it into 3 divisions - each had at least 30 pseudobulbs. Kept 1, gave 2 to very excellent cattleya growers in my orchid society. None, to date, has flowered. It grows alarmingly fast, filling a 10" pot in a season.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
Cheers - Nancy
