Bulbophyllum, Angel Wings - Orchid Board

There are so many categories for discussions that I didn't know which one to use so I will try this one.
Last year I bought a bulbo, bare root, and potted in shallow saucer with holes in bottom and w/spag. I understood they like to be wet, not dry, also a shallow container rather than a pot. I have hanging w/ascocendas so gets watered frequently. In GH w/good humidity and ample light. Temp never below 60 at night and 79-80 range in daytime. No new growth. Maybe it should be mounted instead? Any suggestions?
Are they normally slow growers?

I am not well versed on bulbo's but they do like to keep there feet wet evenly and allowed to dry out slightly during the winter months. They like grabbing onto cork bark, makes them happy little campers. They have a a brief rest in the cool of the winter. They usually bloom on the matured new growth. If there is a peak bloom period it would probably be spring and early fall. They also bloom on matured new growth, spring and fall. Hope a bit of this helps...

Thanks Cheryl, it does help. I have a cork board so I may try it when it gets a little warmer. Someone else told me to mount but the "grower" I got it from swears by the shallow saucer w/spag.

I do not doubt the "grower". You have a few choices and it's basically trial and error which in return depends on a "happy" enviroment. I would give it a try, couldn't hurt your chid will let you know within weeks. Worth the challenge which in my dictionary challenge is the definition for orchids.

What also comes to mind is .... have you checked the root system to see if they look healthy?

I have several bulbos and cirrhos. I also grow in a greenhouse that is designed to mimic zone 11 conditions and is very wet and humid. Mine vary in their media, some are potted in sphag and some are mounted. All get very bright light. They all grow about the same, some species are slower than others, particularly Bulbo. medusae. They like it warm/hot and wet, and all of mine generally bloom in the winter (go figure, maybe they are confused) Here is a photo of a mounted one hanging with other plants over the stream

Don, if you're growing it along side of ascocendas, either the bulbo is getting too much light, or the ascos aren't getting nearly enough! (Possibly both)

Bulbos tend to be shade, warmth, and moisture loving.

Thanks Ray, you are probably right. In another discussion it prompted me to move my Ascon. higher in the greenhouse for more light. Then I moved the bulbo from So. side to No. side so it hangs below a Cat. that is higher up. I noticed yesterday two new growths at the base of the bulbo pseudo bulb. Thanks, the change seems to be working.
