Default Cultural requirements for Cymbidium bicolor?

Can anyone who's familiar with this species please provide some cultural advice? The plant I just received is growing in a slat-wood Vanda basket and has lots of nice growths (nearly succulent in texture and very atypical compared to standard cymbidiums). From what I can tell there's no (or not much) potting mix in the basket; just lots of growths crammed inside with aerial roots winding their way over the wooden slats. It probably could use to be "re-basketed" but I don't want to hurt it. Can it simply be dropped inside a slightly larger basket with no potting mix, or will it respond better to a more typical cymbidium-growing arrangement (pot culture with a fine to medium-grade bark-based mix that retains moisture)? I would really love to hear from anyone who has firsthand knowledge of this species. Thank you!

Steve
