Although bracteosum and gonzalesii grow to be large (tall) plants, you can get blooming size seedlings that are less than 10". Both bloom on leafless canes, hence, like 'a sparse bush of bamboo.' My gonzalesii is blooming well in an area that gets 800-900 fc natural light on a dark day. Plant fills a 6" teak basket; flowering canes are both upright and pendant.
