Default Miami / Ft. Lauderdale Area.. ANYTHING worth it ??

Hi!

I am visiting for business but if there is anything really worth to go see in the south florida area, please let me know. Obviously I wouldn't buy a big plant but maybe a couple very young specialties

I try to get a young Cata but would not arrive on time before I leave.

Thanks

When will you be here and how much free time will you have?

Also, where are you actually staying?

From NW Broward to SE dade is 2.5 hours without traffic….5 with

Hi Dirty,

I am in Miami Coral Gables today until Monday. Then, I'll spend 2 days in Ft Lauderdale and then go back home.

The ideal will be something in Ft. Lauderdale
.

If you are in Coral Cables take a drive down to Homestead. It's an hour at the most. Check out R.F. Orchids and there are several others if you google.

If you really want to have fun, c'mon down to Key West but that might take you 4 hours.

Monday or Tuesday, would you like to come by the coconut’s compound and then I’ll point you to a few Broward county ( near fit lauderdale) spots to visit or buy

Also, the Deerfield beach orchid society has their show this weekend. I’m going to try to go there tomorrow

Doesn't Florida have super strict phytosanitary control? Better make sure you'll be allowed to come back with stuff before they make you get rid of it at the airport

That is smart. I know we are strict about what we allow in. I don’t know if they even check on the way out! Lol

I have done a fair amount of international travel, have never had an issue on the way out with plants or food or anything like that. The only things they check for are weapons or anything that could be used like one or looks like something that could contain such materials (so no water, only small bottles of shampoo etc. Really dangerous stuff...), or things like lithium batteries that could catch fire. You only have to worry about things like plants if Spain (or other European country where you land) has rules about such things and they happen to search your bag.

Great points Roberta

I got called into cover for a coworker today ugh so I hope that Sade goes to either of the places I suggested, the nursery to see about purchases and the gardens to enjoy this AMAZING day that I am locked in a rental conference room doing remote depositions lol
