hey all. i had to post a little blurb about asendorfer, as this was our first time ordering from them. first, the plant i convinced the significant other that we needed arrived in decent shape. it was quite expensive, and as such i am being very very critical. if it was any of our normally priced phals that we get, it would be a solid reception. however, this plant shows some sign of recovering from an acute mite bite problem, with some critical areas on 2 of the oldest leaves. the spots look like they could develop into a problem if not careful. the 2 newest leaves each have a small bite out of the leaf margins close to the base....which also looks like it might be from mites, but not totally sure. there are some small mechanical damage blemishes, but from a phal as large as this i guess that’s to be expected. the phal is potted in large/course bark that, judging by a thin algae coat has probly been there for a minute.

the plus side tho is the turnaround time. we did a bank transfer on sunday, and the plant arrived first thing today (tuesday), so that’s pretty amazing. we did not receive any emails from asendorfer confirming the purchase or that it was sent, and it came so fast that dhl sent a tracking number about 10 minutes before it actually arrived. honestly im quite confused by that, but i ain’t complaining! the plant was wrapped and packaged very well and arrived safely. so hats off to asendorfer for great shipping systems.

all in all we are pretty happy with this orchid and we would recommend asendorfer to a friend. their selection is ok/good, and they have a few key things that peeps might be after that it seems nobody else has. this thing better flower like crazy tho, and soon, or im in the doghouse with the girl!! 🐶

thanks, and have a great one all!

i saw a similar coloration on a phal called popcorn from another vendor and should have bought it, but now for the life of me i can’t find it again! something to be said for impulse buys 😁

omg you could have bought over 10 of the bangkok sunset.

Or another way to put it adding a bangkok would have added less than 10% to your total order.

They are not that common and that is practically giving them away.

hey es, we got a phal gigantea ‘starship’ x self. but, there are a lot of tempting fruits on their site. what i also find amazing is that even after months of fairly rigorous searching there still come up suppliers in germany i haven’t seen before. there’s a lot. and the plant quality is superb overall, i must say. ive bought a lot of plants in the states over the years, and here even from the “smallest” growers you get such nice living things.

Bangkok Sunset is a great plant but realize individual flowers are much smaller than you might expect from the photos.
