Bud, that photo is the definition of tantalizing. Even changing water regularly, rain or tap, I haven't been able to make that work. Maybe it has to do with my warmer temperatures.
I think it is your type of water. I see Vandas in situ that are underwater due to monsoon rains and floods in Asia. And they are underwater for a couple of months. It is warm and humid in the equatorial zones where Vandas come from.

Thank you, Shannon. My picture of the blue Vanda was taken in early November on a warm day. It had 3 spikes with 24 flowers. I was so proud. In the previous spring it won a trophy and blue ribbon and it only had one spike at that time! Wish it had the 3 spikes on our show!

Bud, I appreciate your comments. I usually water my Vanda with rain water only but I don't want to chance submerging the roots for long periods of time to be on the safe side. But thanks anyway.

I have heard if you have an orchid in vase culture with full water adding an aquarium airstone improves their chances of long term success in this method. I have tried this method in the past no air stone and rots, fungus issues are more common in this method. It turned me off. Never have tried it with an airstone.
