Jayfar, I hope your Neos arrive unscathed. Mine are not expected until tomorrow. I did pay extra for heat packs. I have asked Satomi to offer FedEx but I think USPS is what she and her sister have learned and are comfortable using. I would pay extra for FedEx.

I agree with Adrienne's suggestion too.

I'm spoiled with FedEx as my company offers such a huge discount on shipping. Of course, it helps that our product makes their shipping possible so it's a nice symbiosis.

Are you easterners thawing out yet? The Rocky Mountains are quite keen on giving us nice weather this week by keeping the snow on our slopes and not in our big cities. But I won't rub it in. The polar vortex will spin off soon enough.

Philadelphia bounced back up to 24 today, 30s for Thur, 40s Fri and then low to mid-50s Sat thru Tue.

Unfortunately, my local post office (which is a few minutes closer than fedex on the same bus line) has a reputation of being sub-optimal for that sort of thing. By that sort of thing, I mean service generally, not to mention a slow moving line.

Fedex, on the other hand, everyone there knows me by name and usually they don't even need my tracking number.

BTW, japaneseorchids has 15 plants listed for Saturday night.

Nope. No further update in tracking either. The web interface last evening accepted my request for redelivery today, but nothing happened.

Same here. My last update is that my plants left the San Diego, California USPS sorting facility 01/07/14 @ 2AM. Didn't get any update for 01/08/14 not even today, which was expected early delivery date. I'm sure this box will eventually arrive. I hope tomorrow or Saturday. Like Quay said, these plants are hardy. But it sure makes the wait excruciating!

Finally! Here is an email I got from USPS. I'm wondering how long it will take to go from Indy to Fort Wayne. Will it be delivered today? This begs the question: Is this "Priority" mail service or just First Class mail?

For me the Priority Mail is almost always exactly 2 days, but keep in mind that they make no guarantee. One exception I experienced was extreme however, 10-1/2 days (and those surviving compot seedlings eventually succumbed).

The former Express Mail, now called Priority Mail Express, does come with a delivery guarantee, and I get those in one day. SE only occasionally offers Express ($20 versus $7 for regular Priority Mail) for a few of their plants; I don't know why they don't offer the option for all listings.

I wonder if you buy from her directly if she'll entertain fedex? I've done it before with a vendor who didn't offer fedex where I got them to weigh the box and filled out the waybill myself and emailed the pdf to them. Not ideal but I hate the USPS.
