Thanks Matt. The one on the left there is Fugaku, which means Mount Fuji. Shutennou is Red Emperor. Those are among a number of names listed on a page at the Fukiran Society of America site:

The kanji stuff I have no knowledge of. Seems to me there was a thread somewhere around here with some of those translations though.

Sneaky little devils, these fukiran. I just now noticed that the Suruga-fukurin has put out a second spike, already almost an inch high. This one is coming from the smaller growth. How did I not see that before?

Thanks Ginger, shared enthusiasm is a wonderful thing about this board.  As of this morning, 2 blooms opened on the Suruga Fukurin and just now I see one has opened on the Shutennou. Too soon to smell though. Super-high humidity here the last couple days has probably given them a boost. I'll take pics when more open.
Meanwhile, I've pulled the trigger on my orchidweb wishlist (shooting a hole in my wallet) and will be receiving, later this week:
Neofinetia falcata 'Kinkousei' 金光星 - 4~5 - NOT In-Spike
Neofinetia falcata 'Seiryujishi' - Blue Dragon Backbone Lion - 4~6 - NOT In-Spike

OMG, these are two plants on my wish list! I want Kirkousei due to its mottled leaf. And I want the Seiryujishi due to its description of being contorted leaves.

But, hey, great minds think alike. My idea in the early stages is to collect a diverse sampling of different leaf shapes and variegations. The only thing I'm not interested in is those with oddball flower mutation types. I've had a phobia of freaks since childhood for some reason.

I snagged a Byakko finally. Paid too much for a single growth plant, but the variegation on this one is really nice. Plus it will be satisfying to watch it become a multi-growth plant over a period of years.
