Default Neofinetia falcata 'Asahiden'

As most Neofinetia falcata, these bloom in the summer, I’m giving it medium to high lighting with my cool growing Vandas on the east facing bathroom window. It needs cool to warm temperatures that’s why it loves the steam whenever I have my morning and evening quick showers….Asahiden is quite variable, but generally has bright yellow stripes in the leaves to some degree of this variety of Fuukiran which is a select clone of Neofinetia falcata (sometimes called Samurai orchids). Asahiden is the most common variety in all striped varieties that multiply very well so it is a good starter orchid….another trait is the red roots they produce in spring (only the roots from the variegated part) that’s why one can enjoy many features even in this very common variety.
This is in traditional Japanese wrapped in moss but I got an unusual pot just right for it from one of those thrift shops on 28 street Manhattan and I had to widen the water hole at the bottom to conform to the traditional Neofinetia classic pot.
