Default Angraecum Didieri bud with imperfections

I have had this 13 months it - Today I realised I have a bud! although has 'marks' on it ... It's a first for me, I don't know if it is due to watering and it not drying out fast enough or is it because of the sunshine?...? Anyone have any clues? so as to get it right next time round?

I have never seen a bud developing so close to the plant itself. I am not really sure about this one. As for the spotting on the bud I wouldn't worry until it opens. Sometimes mine look bad but then they look fine when they open.

Thanks for your input JennS. I hadn't seen your answer; I just had a look and looks like you're spot on! the 'future' petal parts have not got any of the black 'marks' !
Also as you said it is very close to the plant.. & now the spur is not growing right... should I gently tease it into the 'proper' direction?
Here's a pic..

Looks good -
Got one recently. Already bloomed before I got it. I am curious... You just grow it in moss? Ho often do you water / mist? I thought it liked to dry up between waterings

Grazie!
actually it's in a net basket with bark... but about a month/6 weeks ago I saw Akhenaten's latest photos of his 'Siberian Tropics' & he has one in his terrarium & I noticed his roots were really green ..so I decided to try extra humidity on mine and.....BINGO! much to my amazement the 'stuck' bud I had since I got it suddenly developped at a very quick pace...
Voilą! I 'think' it needs more humidity than I was giving it... ?
To answer I water about every 5 days & soak the layer of spagh as soon as it gets dry. I then squeeze it out and put it back on top of the pot covering the top roots. It lives in one of my bottles (with my bellina) in front of a SE window @ about 60 cms from the window which has a double net curtain on it at the moment.
hope this helps & good luck on getting yours to bloom -

Great... was talking with someone at a MOS meeting and he tried 3 different potting options wth an A. didieri and was happy only in the last one [for sure not happy mounted] that I can't remember. Seems that people have really divergent potting solutions for this Angraecum species....
