Rootless cymbidium backbulbs for S/H
Default Rootless cymbidium backbulbs for S/H

I have a rootless cymbidium backbulb with about a 1in new growth that I want to eventually place into S/H. I am worried that by placing the backbulb directly into S/H this could cause the whole thing to rot. Any advice?

Do it.

Playing with cymbidium backbulbs in wet perlite is what led to my development of the whole technique!

I put two puny backbulbs in S/H and they are growing a new plant. It seems to be working really well.

Thats awesome! I put both of my backbulbs in S/H and am waiting for them to respond. Only 1 of the new growths is growing larger. Are yours Cymbidium or something else?

Just a quick update. One of the two backbulbs new growths is really taking off and sending out new roots. The other I am still waiting on.

Hey good to know. Not a cym, but I optimistically put a Brassia loose bulb (fell off when I repotted but had roots) into S/H on the off chance it might do something. Glad to know that even if it doesn't my instinct to try was not too far off track.
