I don't know enough to say. What I'm seeing is small containers seem to work fine. They don't have extensive root systems.

By the way, Hoya is an extremely diverse genus, too, from a huge geographical area in Southeast Asia. Likewise temperature/humidity requirements among the species. A great many are good house plants....
