i can add that even though my plants only get about 10 hours of light in the winter, 7.5 of those hours are under the LEDs and the plants' leaves are a nice light green, and they put out strong...

I do the same thing Diane. After the flowers are done, I cut/pinch off all the little developing fruits, but leave the main flower scape to dry out on its own. Once it's crispy, it just breaks off.

Mormodia Jumbo World 'Kanazawa' HCC/AOS

If I were going to try one of these difficult Cattleyas in S/H, I would simply let the reservoir dry out in late October and not fill it again until new growth has started and pushed out about 3-5...
