Thanks, this helped a lot. When I removed the decorative rocks around the roots, they are definitely silvery white. I watered the roots this morning and am planning to visit the florist this evening...

Thanks so much for the insight. Yes, I think the florist offered to repot the plant in a "pretty" glass jar before my boyfriend bought it (money earning tactic?). I'll find a new pot tomorrow!
