You could also try seaweed or fish emulsion. They are weaker than the miracle-gro, but I have found them to feed better over a longer period. They do stink while wet, so don't spray as your guests...

Until I put in a dedicated room or greenhouse, the orchids stay pretty much scattered about the house. None go outdoors at all. During even the summer here, the nights get far too cold for them....

Here in my little corner of northern Nevada, we have tremendously hard water coming out of our taps. Our home is fitted with a water softener, and we additionally filter the water with a purifier....
