Smile First Deflasking - Oncidium ampliatum

It's been a while since I posted on here but I thought this would be the best place to share my first deflasking

All the little baby onc. ampliatum arrived intact and there are even more than I expected. There are 27 good sized ones and 13 more mini ones. I used (or tried to) the compotting method on troy meyers website.

I set them up with a temporary humidity tent made from cut open ziplock bags. I plan to take it off gradually over the next couple of weeks. The only concern I have is whether I should put them on a seedling heat mat for a while as well. We let the apartment stay pretty warm (74F) so I'm hoping that's enough.

Can't wait to see them grow!

Good luck with these plants! I think if your room temperature is 74F, this should be fine. Humidity is important and it looks like you are addressing that issue with the plastic bag. It will be really nice to see them a year from now!

Olivia, your seedlings should be just fine with no heat mat now. Keep them misted once you take off the bag at least once a day. Just lightly as you don't want them wet just a little mist will do. If you go and put them outside make sure they are shielded from the sun. As there tiny leaves will burn really fast. Best of luck on your new seedlings.
