Default Vanda & Offspring - When to divide?

Hello All:

The vanda in the photo is about 8"-9" tall and the keiki (or whole plant, I can't tell which) is about 4" tall.

How can I tell if it is a keiki? How can I tell if it is ready to be separated from the mother plant? How do I do that?

Any guidance is appreciated!!

The short one is the off shoot , I would not seperate it as it will bloom a lot sooner if left alone , it is not putting a load on the mother plant , I have a few with a lot of offsets .. more blooms Good looking plant ... and pool Gin

Vandae do not like having roots disturbed. If a vanda has outgrown its basket, carefully place old basket into new larger basket. If you have roots growing every which way, open up the new basket and carefully coax the roots into place. The roots will soon grab on to their new surroundings.
As to dividing them, many vandae grow naturally as clumps of keikis (Ascocentrum, Neofinetia, etc.). Each keiki has potential to flower, so why lessen the show by dividing.
Your plant looks healthy and content. If it were mine, I'd keep it as is.
