Hi guys,

So this little beauty arrived today! The flowers look as amazing as I was hoping. A couple are slightly damaged from the journey but overall looks lovely.

Couple of questions:

1. The media does not look coarse, it looks almost like compost (perhaps coco coir?) although I haven't dug around much. Should I repot in a coarser bark medium? Or do they prefer a medium that retains more moisture?

2. Is it supposed to be so raised up by the pseudobulbs? I know the pseudobulbs shouldn't be buried obviously but I wasn't expecting it to be raised like this? Does it look OK?

Finally, wish me luck as I've never had one of these before!!!

Thanks.

Zygos do like to be on the damp side. Choice of medium should be dictated by your conditions and how much time you have to water. They are more like a Cymbidium or Oncidium in water requirement than, for instance, a Cattleya. This one could use repotting after it finishes blooming - the roots really would rather be in the medium, But they do tend to be climbers/wanderers so you do have to put them back into the pot occasionally.
