New to OB from Ontario Canada

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, been lurking a bit for a couple of weeks now soaking up the info.

I've loved orchids for years though didn't have much luck getting them to bloom again previously. I decided to take my interest a bit further and went searching for proper information on how to care of the various kinds of orchids since I didn't buy into the 'just add ice' technique...

I have 5 NoID Phals, 2 in bloom but all 5 are putting out new leaves and roots, and 1 FDK After Dark S.V.O Black Pearl that my mother-in-law got me when we went to our local Orchid show in March. Only ever had Phals so I had to do some research on the FDKs to make sure I didn't accidentally harm it. It's very much a baby, not expecting any blooms for a few years still I think.

Anyway! I'm really liking being here and have already found a wealth of information! I hope to get to know everyone here! :waving

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

I think there is an active orchid society in Ontario. If you can make the meetings, you will learn a lot from them.

Thank you!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I really appreciate it :D

I'll definitely look up the Orchid Society in my area and see if I can make the meetings.

 Looks like my local Orchid society takes a break during the summer months. I'll have to wait until September to be able to check it out.

Might be a good thing... seems like they regularly have speakers with plants for sale so it might be better for my wallet and space (or lack thereof) for now
