Scaphyglottis prolifer-mini or micro?

Maybe I don't google too well. I tried finding out which category this orchid belongs. Can you answer me? It has bloomed for me 3 times since December 2015. Yea me!

It's not one I'm familiar with. Can you share a picture?

That depends on your definition of mini. And I think the person who blooms it gets to call it whatever she likes.

LOL. That settles it!

I've had graminifolia and amethystina (and still have bidentata). Individual growths are small but they grow new ones on top of old ones, in multiple directions (I used to call them my crab grass!).

Not sure about prolifera but the graminifolia and amethystina flowers are about a 1/3 inch across (bidentata are bigger), so the flowers are very small.

So, yeah, call it what you want.

I have Scaphyglottis prolifera and I consider it a miniature. It certainly is much larger than micros I grow, though IOSPE calls it a medium size plant. I've only had mine since October so no blooms yet but I'm looking forward to it blooming. Its a neat little orchid. Mine is potted in moss and growns over the edge of the pot. I bought it from J&L at a show locally.

Report back how it goes. I've only seen them mounted.

I think they are mounted because of their growth habit but they're kinda thirsty, imo.

Mine is on a Kool Log. I soak it when it gets dry and in summer I will leave some water in the log after it is soaked. I have had it since 11/2014. This is it's third blooming. I love the little guy. Now if I could just make my Sophronitis Cernua happy......

Amen.

Really cool plant, by the way!
