Spike Stopped growing.

I was so excited that I got my first Paph to respike. Well right before the spike poked out of the leaves it just stopped growing... I did move it from being under lights to a south facing window and it is winter time so I don't think it is getting as much light as it was getting under the fake lights.

If I move it back under the lights will the spike continue to grow?

The Paph is a yellow bulldog looking types.

I don't know much about Paphs but if it is cooler by the window, it may have just slowed down the development. If the conditions are very different between what you have under the lights and the window and the change was very sudden, it just depends on how the orchid handles stress whether the spike will continue to grow.
Hopefully, someone who grows Paphs can offer you some real advice. :)

Thanks.
Yeah the conditions were different the room with the lights is much cooler all day long and it got more light. I think It might have been the move that stressed the plant out. I moved it back but maybe that was a bad Idea because it will be more stress. Why must this plant be so sensitive.

I would certainly move it back. They are just more touchy than some orchids I think. I would wait till it opens then move it to where you can see it better.

Hey Snowflake, what do you mean by spike stopped growing? Maybe you could show a picture? With the complex hybrids it happens that they will grow slowly dependant on the temperatures. They do like warm-ish surroundings. Or maybe you are checking up on the plant too often and it looks like its not growing :-)

I keep logs of my orchids. When they spike how big the spike is and how long it took to bloom. It has been a month of no growth at all. I thought maybe it was me checking it too much but it's not the spike has stopped growing . I moved it back under the light's I will just leave it alone and hope it starts growing again.

I too, am not sure what is meant by "slowing" growth. It certainly is not working by a human time table. I would not move it. I would continue to give it the same culture, mybe give a dose of fertilizer. My Paph Beatrice has a small spike forming, and is just sitting, sitting. All I can do is wait and not fuss with it. I have learned that you never fuss with an orchid if it is doing well. My Uncus bulldog is forming 3 new leaf growths. They are growing at a snail's pace and I figure that by this time next year the older one might be half-grown, and the two little nibs might be 1.5 inches long. Yes, they are slow growers. So actually I wouldnt worry because I am growing paphs and mine (Berenice and Uncas) are really stalled right now too. I did give them a little dose of KLN and some kelp to fortify the roots, because it is near spring. I want vegetative growth to create big thick plants before worrying about the flowers.

Well my problem was due to Root Rot! Darn it. Here is a video I did on it. I think it will be ok as long as I don't over pot it and don't over water it. It makes sense because I was neglecting it a bit before I moved it. By Neglecting I mean way under watering it. When I moved it to the other window I did water it more.

If your orchids is acting weird pull it out of the pot. I also bought some Seaweed stuff to help the roots grow.
