Paph appletonianum and (slightly deformed) Odette's Vision
2 Attachment(s)
Hello! Right now I have an appletonianum (very fond of these) in bloom,
Attachment 117753 and an Odette's Vision, which has a little deformation on the pouch you can see on the right: Attachment 117754 Oh well! Currently Mr. Wonderful and Niobe are in bud, so hopefully I can share those soon. Happy new year! |
Welcome to the Orchid Board! And nice flowers.
|
My avatar is my Odettes Vision on its second blooming. The first time it was super wonky. Yours will likely correct itself next blooming.
|
This is its second bloom with me; maybe third time's the charm.

Very nice!

Any culture advice for the appletonianum ?
Mine isn't doing much but declining ...😕 |
Honestly nothing special, I'm no expert at all. This one is currently potted in coconut husk pieces and sponge rock, it gets watered whenever I notice it's dry, or otherwise about once a week. They all go in the shower for about fifteen minutes, and I usually fertilise at the same time (though I can be lax about that...)
I did have a var hainanense that declined, about a year ago, but I think I was letting it stay dry too long; it was in a very small pot. Some of my smallest paphs go in an aquarium with the Chiloschista, which keeps a higher humidity, when I'm gone for longer periods of time. Good luck with yours, I hope it bounces back soon! |
Thanks very much for your answer !
I thought there was something special with the appletonianum because my other Paphs are growing quite well... Maybe I have to threaten with the garbage once again 😀 |
Some of my plants must not speak English, because they don't listen to me.
