Dendrobium unicum new growth during winter rest...
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all you lovely orchidboard members!
So, I have my little unicum that matured three beautiful growths after the summer, and flowered wonderfully this past spring. I started my dendrobiums on winter rest during Thanksgiving, however my unicum insists on putting out new growth... To water, or not to water? That is the question. I've not had unicum, but this is always the thing I wonder about with this type of Den. I hope you get some answers soon :bump:

I'll be watching this for an answer too. :)

I have elected not to water thus far.. I don't want to inhibit flower on the matured growths because I adore the flowers on this plant. I'm thinking I may end up with some stunted growth... we'll see!

I don't have this one either. I would be inclined to water with a new growth. I know it is suppose to have a winter rest but how can one not water with a new growth?

Thats how I feel a little bit... especially when there are four new growths too.
I gave it a little drink yesterday. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk |
There is no true answer as to water or not. I would give a little drink of water or even misting when canes are starting to wrinkle.

I have a seedling that remains in active growth. I am continuing to keep it warm, watering it and fertilizing it regularly.

I have one. Mine is mounted so I mist the roots lightly daily, but leaving most of s. moss mounting dry. They are deciduous, I did loose a leaf and have one other yellow.
