Oncidium repot question. Lowers vs shoot
1 Attachment(s)
OK, this oncidium finished flowering so I cut off the stem, whereupon it threw two new small flower spikes.
Then, it decided to throw the shoot for the next pseudobulb. Originally I was going to repot it after the flower spike, but before the roots started for the new shoot. Should I repot it now, while the flower buds are still closed or wait until the roots start from the new shoot? |
A quick Google of "repot Oncidium",produced this link among several, with similar advice: ttp://www.orchidsgardencentre.com/oncidium.html. Based on that advice, repotting now, with a shoot growing, should be ideal.

OK, thanks.

Sorry - it was late when I posted. I should have mentioned that I have only a few Oncidiums, but when I repot them, I also aim for this growth stage. This is similar to the best time to repot a Cattleya. Of course, if a plant is in desperate need, repot any time.
