Any idea what this is? Vandofinetia roots...

I noticed a little fungus growing in the sides of the sphag n bag, so I decided it was time to end that before it took over or affected the plant itself, so I put it in a tiny clay pot with a mix of primeagra and the epiweb chunks. Anyway, when I was inspecting the roots, I noticed these whitish plaques on the undersides of the roots. To me they look like potentially normal, albeit hairy, roots vs some kind of fungal badness.

What's the verdict? Any intervention required? I tried gently scraping them away and they seem pretty adherent.

I'm with Paul on this one - don't grow Vandas and it looks like a root grappling/climbing mechanism, encouraged by the sphag 'n' bag technique.

I believe that these hairs are part of the forming of the velamen on the roots. They help the roots retain water and protect the growing root tips. I would guess that the fimbriation could also function as a means to adhere to whatever the plant is holding on to.

as follow up, the hairiness has remained completely stable, and most likely represents normal roots/grappling mechanisms.. thanks for the inputs everyone!
