Pleione britannia 'Dorreen' in flower

This one always a little later to bloom than my formosanum and hasn't multiplied as quickly over the years as that either.

Last year it had an occasional stem with two flowers but not this year.

I really like the color on this one! Very lovely!
I wish there was more of a variety of Pleiones in the US and that they were easier to find. Thanks for sharing pictures of yours!

Oooh this is just beautiful! I'll bet you are thrilled, what a show.

Wow! Beautiful!

Thanks everyone.

The flowers on this seem to have lasted longer than on the formosanna, not sure if that's genetic or because they sit near a radiator and it's been on less recently as the weather has warmed up.

Nice colour and beautiful bloom too. Pleione is my favorite one but I tried to grow Pleione hookeriana & Pleione maculata two times and obviously I failed. It survived in my house near about 6 months and then the leaf dropped and after that the bulb was rotted. Please guide me about the potting medium and light, water etc. (Here the highest temp. in summer is- 42C and lowest temp. in winter is- 4C. Rainy season - May to July.)

Very nice Rosie! Still a nice bunch even without double flowers.

I wasn't successful with maculata, though I did try it before I started with these ones. maculata is an autum flowering one, rather than a spring flowering one and grows differently (warmer or cooler, can't remember which). I don't know kookeriana so not sure if that is like maculata or like this.

I grow in a mixture of potting compost, perlite, fine bark and chopped up sphag. It's probably about equal quantities potting compost and fine bark and just a little each of the other two. At this time of year they are in the house, which probably means the flowers don't last as long as they would if cooler, but it's too cold in the greenhouse just now. I will put them out side or in the greenhouse mid April. In the winter I take them out the pot, dry them off and store them in the greenhouse (down to 5C ) in a box or empty covered pot. I kept them quite moist when growing.
