Telipogon bowmanii - I know it is still "too early" to jump up with the joy, but anyways - Got this none beginning of June from Manolo (Peruflora). Mounted on piece of branch from the park tree. Keep it inside the apartment in the small vase, misting every day. The end of July new root started to grow, and at the end of August I could see through the leaf there is a bud forming! I was shocked :-) The bud is out of the leaf today and still growing. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope to have a pictures of Telipogon bloom in my collection! :bowing:bowing:bowing
I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS CORRECT CATEGORY, sorry, I found it belongs to Subtribe Oncidiinae

Good luck!

I've always wanted a Telipogon but they are hard to come by and would need a lot of environment engineering here.

(Some of the coastal places in the bay area probably could manage them but the commute would drive me nuts.)

Awesome!

AnonYMouse, trust me, if this one will grow here in Miami, than your weather is actually much better, and cooler! I would try one, I always say you will never know till you try, look at this guy, happy for nearly 3 months in my care, and these were the hottest months anyways:-) No special treatment, just mounted and standing in vase with lecca pebbles on bottom, and close to LED light, that is all :-)))

Thanks for the encouragement.

My side of the peninsula is dryer and warmer (mostly intermediate, although this summer has been warm to hot). Maybe if Peruflora or Ecuagenera bring some to the show in February...maybe.

I wish to be "intermediate" we are mostly warm, in summer time hot, so far away from ideal. Your conditions are much better, and you can provide actually great night temp drops. Humidity and moisture will be provided if you so some small setup like me - smaller vase, some lecca or life mosses on bottom kept moist at all time and the mount with Telipogon standing on it. You should be fine. They are very cheap actually from Peruflora, most costs only around $14-$16, try to choose the one from lower elevations around 2000-2500m, but email them that you want to pre order one, they will bring it for you, otherwise I highly doubt they would bring them for sale at the show.
