Aerides Korat Koki ( in bloom )
 

A very robust grower that gave me two spikes of cascading fragrant flowers. This hybrid is made up of Aerides houlletiana and Aerides lawrenciae that was registered in 1991.
The blooms smells like one of those classic ladies floral perfume just like the ones being spray sampled at the mall.
I treat this like my other Vandaceous orchids on the south facing bay window….contained inside a 14 inches tall bell glass….with robust pencil thick roots that gets to be soaked in water for 15 minutes every other day. I feed it weekly weakly 15 minute soaking with K-lite fertilizer and seaweed mix. I also observed that with bright shaded light the leaves are widely open with the chartreuse shade of green; whereas as the season changes where I get medium light the leaves tend to be semi-folded tinged with a darker olive green.
I inherited this bare root in a plastic basket a couple of years ago but I have humidity issues in winter that's why I decided on vase culture.

Looks like the vase culture is working out well, and certainly makes an interesting presentation. The back-lit photos against the sky are very effective.
