Ida reichenbachii
4 Attachment(s)
Some decades back I've read in the AOS Bulletin an article named "By mule to Muna - in search of Lycaste reichenbachii". It was an adventurous trip to a remote area in central Peru. Since then I was obsessed to grow one Ida reichenbachii, but the one I bought turned out to be locusta. So I was electrified when we set up our exhibition stand for Neu-Ulm in February, and the neighbouring Peter Taggesell brought a specimen plant with about 10 flowers, but without a tag. For me it was obvious what it was, even if I had never seen one in real life.
Not the best photos, but you might enjoy the frilly beauty. Btw one year ago I bought another plant labelled reichenbachii, and time will show if this plant keeps the label's promise. |
