Lots of phals.!
10 Attachment(s)
Hello,
My name is Greg, and I will try to make a very long story short. We just got back on Sat. night from a long stay at the Mayo Clinic. My wife was diagnosed with a very rare aggressive small-cell cancer/tumor of the bladder, which was successfully removed two weeks ago Tuesday, along with many other internal organs. She is doing fine with a new external and internal system in place. During chemo, Deb suffered a heart attack that almost took her life. So after two stints in ICU at different hospitals, she is finally home. During our stay in Rochester and the hospital, I had nothing but time. I ended out buying 9 different Walmart phals., most of which came from Deleons Bromeliads in Fl. Many of their phals originate from Gan Lin in China, and I was surprised to find some original Gan Lin tags. I haven't posted anything in a long time, as plants are very secondary to Deb's health. However, she survived and so did these plants, taking them all the way back to NE ND in the frigid weather. I was able to track down and ID every single phal, so that in itself is amazing considering they are Walmart orchids. However, as the pics will show, they are beautiful! Greg Janick, St. Thomas, ND. Please look at my own reply near the bottom of page 2 of this thread. |

Kim,
Thank you. I agree with you, I think that is the richest looking one because of the very deep red. I am especially fond of it, as its name is 'Elegance Deborah'. My wife who went through the horror of cancer is also named Deborah. And even though it took a toll on her appearance, she also is still very 'Elegant in every way!' ---------- Post added at 06:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:00 PM ---------- Sonya, Thank you! ---------- Post added at 06:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:03 PM ---------- Mingny, Thank you for both the well wishes for my wife and the orchids compliment. They all (including my wife) look very beautiful now at home! Greg. |
It's not "Elegance Deborah" but ELEGANT DEBORAH in capitals. Plus it's only a synonym now, the right grex is Taida Pearl. ;)
Enjoy, it's a strong one.:) |
Thank you from Paris! Greg. ( I will change the name on my inventory list).

Really beautiful, glad your wife is on the mend.

Enjoy Greg, I rescued one from a bin in early december 2011 by 4°C, it flowered to me regularly since, starting 6 months later. And even while recovering from a crown rot, coming from later consequences of the winter bin… It's strong, grows and recover fast, makes easily basal keikis. A nice genetic mix in all. :)
