ants that damages orchid flowers
Hi there,
I have a Cattleya that is is blooming now, and in the past days I have fighted with some black ants that found the sepals of the bud particoularly "appetizing" causing some damages. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...e/DSC_4847.jpg Someone has some suggestion on how to discourage or "invite" ants to abandon this terrible habit? |
It's not good for plants. If you found ants around the plants spray there immediately which is better option to remove these ants in quick time. No doubt in these days a lot of different kinds of ants are found in our areas and most of them are disturbed our life in different ways.Black ants are more dangerous for different things.Professional experienced company

In this link, there is a section on ant elimination.
First Rays' Home Remedies Hope it helps. I didn't think ants really ate orchids.... I just thought that they were, for the most part, "indicator" pests (i.e. they indicate the fact that some other insect is there... Usually b/c the ant brought the pest onto the plant themselves - they "farm" other insects like aphids & mealies... etc). But, I could be wrong, it could be the ants themselves are eating your plant... Either way, you'll wanna get rid of them! :) Good Luck! |
