Habenaria ericmichaelii

Always a faithful mid-summer bloomer. Great fragrance in the morning hours.

I have read that they don't like a lot of sun and they like to be warm but what about water? Moist, dry, what? Do they lose leaves after they flower? Winter rest?
yours is soooo beautiful!!! I want one like that...Jean

I keep mine moist during the entire growing season. While growing, I give them "cattleya light" or 1/2 day of full sun each day. The summer temperatures are 80-90F during the day and about 10F cooler at night. I fertilize weekly weakly during the growing season. As of right now, this one has gone completely brown. I do not need to decrease water to induce this, but once it happens no more water until mid-March and it stays at normal household temperatures all winter. On March 15 each year all of my Habenarias get their first taste of water for the calendar year.

Congratulations! I hope that it does well. I'm not sure what you can expewct, but as long as you fertilize it and give it good light while growing, next year should be at least as good.
