Nice!
Every time I look at an Oonamisekai, it grows on me a little more. |

https://www.pearlessenceshop.com/sit...ull/200002.jpg 'Seikai have very formal and evenly curved, wave shape leaves. Oonami means large wave, so Oonamiseikai means large wave, wave pattern. So 'Oonamiseika' have larger curves and generally are not as strict and uniform as 'Seikai'. |

EDIT- I did some googling and I think that Seikai and Onami are both painting styles, but the combination, Oonamiseikai is not. I found this, labeled Onami (Masculine waves) http://www.oceansbridge.com/painting...es_(Onami).jpg So I would guess that the strict Seikai would be feminine waves. This is all speculation and educated guesses based on some quick googling. But the names that I talked about earlier i know to be correct and Satomi si the one who told me about that. Quote:

I looked up seikai in my very limited paper Japanese dictionary but none of the definitions work in this context. せいかい (seikai in hiragana) returns 0 results on the online tool I'm using.
I know nami is wave and oo is a prefix meaning big/grand/great or an honorific. But oonami (澇) is flood. When I enter nami, I get 24 results なみ. The tool is more effective when entering the kanji characters but I don't know which kanji characters are used for the neo names. I have a headache now. And if you know Japanese and are currently laughing at me, I'm beyond caring. BTW, why do we not have head-exploding and getting drunk smilies? ETA: kanji isn't phonetic nor directly translatable which might explain why my methods don't work. |
The Japanese dictionary I have defines oonami as surge. It has been a few years since I have really used my Japanese skills, so I may have looked it up wrong, but it does make sense. A flood kind of is a surge of water.

Thanks for looking those up!! I love stuff like this and learning about name :D
Does anyone have any interesting knowledge about any other neos? |
