Can this orchid with rotten root be saved?

Hi,

Someone brought an orchid to our home. However, we over water the orchid. This is our first time had orchid at home. We learnt our lesson of not over watered the orchid. Sorry for our ignorance. :(

What is the name of this kind of orchid? Could this orchid be saved? I have started to dry the roots on top of newspapers.

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

This is a Phaleanopsis (Phal) You can find a lot of good information on how to care for them here on the OB at http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ends-here.html

Good Luck!

There don't appear to be any leaves left on that plant, just dry roots and a few wilting flowers. If there really are no leaves on it, I highly doubt you'd be able to bring the plant back to good health.

Count it towards experience - I know I've lost my fair share of orchids over the years. Sometimes you just can't save them.

Thank you, Carrie, for the link on how to take care of it. Also, thanks for telling me the name of this type of orchid.
