Hello all, my name is Adam. I come from Taiwan (Is anybody from Taiwan, too?) :waving.
I'm newbie for this forum, but already an orchid enthusiast several years ago. I really enjoy growing plant and taking picture of bloom for my orchids. Now I live in an apartment where no enough space for these plants collected after years. So, only one way I can do is moving them to a rental nursery where is in suburb of city and 20km away from me. :( So, I wish exceedingly to own an orchids greenhouse of myself in further, even though it looks like a dream now. Please forgive and teach me if poor writings because English isn't my mother language. I'm glad to meet everyone of this forum, and share my favorite orchids once blooming. The first sharing shot is cute Laelia alaorii: |

Hello and welcome to the Orchid Board. Your collection sounds interesting. Are you saying you rent space at a nursery to keep your orchids? If so, that is very interesting. I have heard of a few greenhouses in the United States that rent space for people to keep their orchids and I think that is a really a neat idea! I hope you find a lot of friends on the Board - there are some really nice and helpful people here. As for your English-speaking ability, you speak MUCH better English than I speak Taiwanese - :) ! This will be a great place for you to practice your second language. How many orchids do you own? The Laelia photo you posted is wonderful - such a beautiful bloom. Thank you for posting it! Is it fragrant? Again, WELCOME - I hope you enjoy your time here. Steve:waving |

I'm happy everyone likes my Laelia. I'll share more pictures I took later. :blushing:
To Stray59: The rental space of greenhouse or nursery is ideal for planting enthusiasts with hard work in the city. However, the owner of greenhouse just provides me space and watering, wouldn’t be responsible for growing of my orchids. So I’m often busy for planting in greenhouse on weekend. Now I own up to 100 orchids and most are species because I really admire the natural blossom of species. Few years ago, I knew some friends who are addicted to orchid in the wild. As for Taiwan, it's a mountainous island somewhere the forest is still thick without destroying, not difficult to observe native orchid in deep forest. We had collected some precious photos of native orchid after years. I’ve never forget our wonderful discovery and warm friendship in journey... Again, glad to join OB and meet everyone. |
