IDing Just Add Ice orchids
I recently visited my local Home Depot and Lowes and have noticed that they have very simular if not the same plants, just clones.
They're all labeled as Just add ice orchids. They were also organized by color as well, there were pure whites, peachy oranges, light pinks, dark pinks, white with red lips, and many others. I'm sure if you guys have Just add ice orchids locally, you've noticed that a lot of them look like clones of each other. That being said, I was wondering if anyone has attempted to contact the company and asking if they have names for their plants. Just a little curious  |
My thoughts on 'just add ice' are well documented elsewhere...
Putting names to them will be impossible. These are produced for the mass market, and they have decided that the mass market does not want names (they throw the tags away!) and they are probably right. They may never have had names (unregistered selections), or if they do it is long past time that anybody will be able to figure them out. I've never tried to contact them, but I know people who have and they never get any response... You could try though. |
If you contact them tell them to stop advertising orchids that way! Tell them to quit telling people that don't know better to water a tropical plant with two or three ice cubes a week! They are just hoping their directions of just add ice will kill the plant so people will come back and buy another one. I hate that company! It doesn't surprise me they haven't responded to the people who have tried to contact them.
Let us know if you contact them and if they respond. Good luck! |
