My flask arrived. does it look ok?
Or should I open it? Last picture shows some dried up roots and it bothers me a little.
It is Phal. Bedford Nonpareil (P. Penang Girl ‘Ching Ruey’ X P. Princess Kaiulani ‘Chin Yo’ AM) from Kingfisher. Thanks http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8uxrNy1yKv...600/flask5.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gK093kmBok...1600/flask.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5l_35PHbAH...600/flask4.jpg |
They look pretty good. If any of the leafs turn yellow you should differently take them out. They do look big enough to be deflasked. Put them together in a compot with fine bark or moss.

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!! I AM SOO JEALOUS!!!!!! This is one of the many things on my wishlist from Pat!!!!
|
Thank you!
I don't see yellow leaves there, although I should probably try to see it in better light. Are those dried out roots not a big problem? Also I can see some condensation on the walls of container inside. Is it OK? So I should be checking it every day on the yellowing leaves, right? |
The condensation just means there is moister in your flask (an okay thing). I would watch for yellowing leafs. Were you given a time frame to keep it in the flask?
|
Yes, the vendor said that they are ready to be deflasked, but it is better to keep them in for couple months. I will try to keep them in until July, because I want to deflask them while it is still summer and warm, so they have some time to adjust before fall.

When going through list of flasks - I was searching for pics on the net and found not much of Bedford Nonpareil, but this: Phal. Bedford Nonpareil.... - Orchid Forum by The Orchid Source And I thought it was rather interesting, so I bought it. I hope it would be fragrant too. |
