I love these blooms! But I'll try not to get another paph until I can re-bloom the ones I already have :)

RJSquirrel 04-08-2011 11:59 PM

thanks lana :) you will get some blooms

some of mine, I just put back on the bottom shelf water em when they need and they eventually start budding..I have a few that bloomed out and they dont do much but sit and get watered and suck up light. So I understand the waiting game..I have around 40 paphs and that seems to give me 3 or 4 of them blooming each month..thats what I wanted to stop spending so much tryin to surround myself with blooming plants..Now I get my own to blooming and gives me a chance to buy other genera and I'm happy with my bloom on tooo

Can you feel my jealousy radiating across the Atlantic? These are my absolute favourite paphs!

(it's also the one I said -in one of your threads- I thought was showing a bud in the top of the fan. However, that was a good 6 weeks ago and the only thing that's happened is that it's grown enough so that I don't need the magnifying glass to see it! So, either it's just taking an age or it's died :( May I ask how long did yours take to grow from its first showing?)

RJSquirrel 04-09-2011 05:14 AM

yes they take some time from when you can see the little nubbin down in the leaf crease..Just make sure the little bud doesn't feel squishy. Should feel firm and solid. If its soft might want to take a closer look. About 10 weeks it should start to spike up some about 14 or 15 weeks it should bloom :) I say all told 3 to 4 months..forever

Putting the plant in bright indirect light and keeping it warm and maybe a little more watering should move the bud right along up the column :)

The Paphs I have in the past seem to use a lot of water when they making buds. I Make sure my plant doesn't get dried out at all or the bud will take the hit for that. All of the little details will determine the time of actual flowering...

and thank you or peeking :)

they are beautiful little paphs but I dont detect any fragrance yet..I may have to sneek up on it at night..

Thanks RJ :) I'll keep all this in mind, try and be patient and maybe (if I'm brave enough) try a squishyness test! If all turns out ok, it'll be my first paph flower as none of the 4 I have were bought in flower!

This one interested me when I was first learning about orchids. Nice to see it again.
