My mini-cymbidium makes a comeback

:hello
I have this mini-cymbidium noid which I have been caring for since 2007. It bloomed on 2008 and after that made a complete rest. Happy to say that it is now back in bloom this winter 2011. Pretty much just in time for Valentine's day (saved my hubby the effort to buy me any flowers hah!) Just wanted to share the photos during its growth and bloom time to all! |
It's lovely, way to grow!

I saw one just like that at Wal-Mart where I bought my Cym. Pistachio Mint 'Geyserland' I almost bought it, but Pistachio caught my eye.

Very pretty! Nice that it bloomed again, hopefully you'll get spikes every year now. :)

What a beauty!

It is not unusual for commercially purchased plants from the box stores to "go into hibernation" for a couple of years after purchase due to the fact that most have been purchased from wholesale growers who have forced the plants into bloom mode. Many have had their new growths burned off and these of course, are the flowering bulbs for the next year. Many have been treated with bloom hormones. You get the idea.... it is all about "moving product"!
