A list of OPEN Orchid societies in California?

I have been on the search for an orchid society to join in my area or in areas in which I go to. Most meetings seem to be monthly or bi-monthly so I could probably attend 2 societies or maybe just one depending on how much time and effort I put into the one near me.
A few orchid societies that I have been able to look up online are no longer 'alive,' so to speak.
Anyone know of any orchid societies in California that are still in session and willing to take on a new amateur member who loves freebies and a challenge and to be spoiled rotten with new orchids and ideas?

Please share with me any and all orchid societies in California. Especially, southern California.

Thank you~ I really value your input and information.

Thank you for that!!! It helped a lot. There aren't many near me so now begins the quest for the closest one and if I am willing to make the drive. ><

Hi there,

Where is So. CA are you located?

I'm a member of both Southbay O.S. and Torrance Cymbidium Society. I haven't attended the Southbay meeting in a while but I know that they are always willing to accept new members. They hold their meetings at the South Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes every third Friday of the month.
The Torrance Cymbidium Society which I just signed up in Oct. is also a good place to start although the society's main focus is cymbidiums. They meet every first Wednesday of each month on certain months of the year.
There is also the Long Beach Amateur Orchid Society that meets every 2nd Monday of each month at the St. Gregory's Episcopal Church Hall on Willow Street.
