That looks a lot like Encyclia tampensis. Nice flower.

I wonder if there is a reason for looking that way, and if it could be considered convergent evolution? Again, very nice Gin!

That is certainly belonging to vanda alliance in which phals are also covered by virtue of the fact the buds have(see them enlarged) a pronounced spur that you do not find in Cattleya alliance where encyclia falls. Moreover, the lip of this flower has a hint of anchorish look of a phal without the cirrhii.

There are other phal species which have narrow petals with similar looking lips. I can cite the case of Phal mannii, Phal. terrapis, Phal, speciosa, Phal. cornu-cervii and Phal. amboenisis.
