How to use epsom salt
I am suspecting that some of my orchids are deficient in magnesium because of the discoloration of some leaves(Like yellowish to greenish).
I want to try to use epsom salt but I don't know how to use it. How many times should I use it and what dilution rate. Thank you. |
People use it many different ways, just like fertilizing. I personally use 1 teaspoon per gallon about once a month.

I, too, use about 1 tea/gal and also use peter's cal-mag 15-5-15 once every few months - they seem to like it.

discoloration of the leaves might be a natural process on some orchids like, dendrobiums where the leaves turn yellow then falls off or it can also be a sign of too much light. What kind of orchid do you have? Post some pics! :) |

Ray also has an excellent resource here where he explains how the plant uses the nutrients it needs, and details what both excess and lack of the nutrients will look like: Fertilizers & Plant Nutrition Scroll down to "What do Fertilizer Components Do?" |

A teaspoon per gal is the rate I always use also and occasionally I use a just a pinch of pot nitrate and the mag togather instead of my reg fert just once in a while when I think of it not often
