This plant is V Chao Praya Sapphire x Ascda Bangkhuntian Gold. I have posted it on OB numerous times because it's almost always in bloom:
http://www.orchidboard.com/community...tian-gold.html This winter, the weather here was record-breaking and although the chids were all tucked away safely in their room, the vandas were hung directly under the skylights for the best lighting but that also left them about 6 ft away from the warmest (50-52 degrees) part of the room. The only thing that was done differently is the cooler temps and this is what she looks like today: |
WOW....the new cold species :rofl: (sorry Sue, that just popped out) It is kind of interesting though.

It also happened to my Christmas Cactus! I was so thrilled to have an odd pale blush colored one and with the colder temps it is now blooming in a very deep pink! :faint:
|
wow tats wild! My previously pale pink Christmas cactus also has deeper color this year, but I attribute that to I fertilized a lot - but who knows?
|
Wow! It looks like 2 completely different plants! I never thought that temperature could have such a profound effect on colors. Maybe that explains why my Bllra Peggy Ruth Carpenter did the same thing once.
|
wow.. I think I like better the cold version.. so.. I would keep it in the freedge from now on :)

cOLD FUSION REALLY DOES WORK!

What a change. I agree, I like the cold grown one a lot... but I also like the warmer version... let's face it I just love Vanda's :coverlaugh:
|
The flowers have a different color intensity depending on the temp? Weird indeed.
I like both forms. :) |
