Phrag. Rosalie Dixler -- Help!!!
Help me please, I recently bought this phrag and it seems to me that the plant is fading:_( its leaves are weak and soft, and it does not grow!! :dumb: :(
I read over the internet that it should be watered very often, I water it every second day. Am I doing right??? How often should I water it?? PLease help to save this plant, I've been dreaming to grow it in my collection! Please!! |
Can you post a picture? Phrags and Paphs are notorious slow growers.
|
You might consider watering every day. I grow mine sitting in a saucer of water. If you can't do that, water them every day - they like wet feet.

Here goes, the picture taken a few days ago, but its look didn't change that much, the only thing that has changed is that its leaves are soft, like it didn't get enough water... :(

Brooke, if I will water every day, the roots might get rotten!??
|
You plant looks happy to me, although I am not crazy about the collection of moss on the surface.
I agree with Brooke about more water, ONCE you check out what is going on in that pot. Gently knock it out and have a look at the root condition and the quality/decomposition of the media. What type of media is it growing in? |

If your plant's limpness is not from underwatering, I would suspect it is not getting enough moisture because the roots are functioning poorly.
Be gentle and keep as much media around the roots as possible. The roots should look firm and fresh looking, not brown and mushy. |
Sorry for misunderstanding, but what does it mean "keep as much media around the roots as possible"?

Your seedling looks like it is doing fine :) Great job! If that moss starts looking "dead" or dried up, then you definitely need to water that plant. -Pat |
