Cattleya amethystoglossa var. venosa
It seems to me that Cattleya amethystoglossa is not commonly found in collections out of my country, which is a pity because this can be an awesome orchid with more than a dozen beautiful spotted flowers on a single stem. I agree that if you have space issues then this is not a possible choice, because the plant can get tall, as tall as the more known C. guttata. The variety posted here has the petals with purple veins, much more veins than spots and is not commonly found out there. The species is native of the State of Bahia, in Brazil, and a few varieties are known, like caerulea, semi-alba, the rare alba, venosa, aurea, palha (cream), salmonea, lisa (spotless) and flamea.

I love the way there are several flowers on the stem. I also like the colour combo and the spotting. Great pics as ever Muro :cheer:

Gorgeous Mauro, amethystoglossa is a bit unusual here, they can be found though, although I have never seen any varieties of it for sale, just the type. I found a small seedling last February, but so far she has not liked me or my conditions very much and proceeds to just sit there and not grow!! I have my fingers crossed that she will forgive me and start to grow soon!
